CCAP leads four initiatives that touch all levels of government and involve stakeholders from a variety of interests. These initiatives are:
- Climate Policy Initiative, a collaboration with leading companies, federal, state and local governments, and environmental organizations to discuss and advance a national climate policy solution;
- Urban Leaders Adaptation Initiative, a partnership with large counties and cities to preempt climate change impacts through smart land use and infrastructure planning
- Advancing Climate Action in California , which assists the state in designing climate solutions through analysis and assessing mitigation options as well as a focus on smart growth, land use and transportation, and
- Transportation and Smart Growth Program, which focuses on transportation and land-use policies to reduce GHG emissions and improve air quality. This program also focuses on transportation and planning efforts internationally.
- Climate Policy Initiative (CPI)
In collaboration with leading companies, states and environmental organizations, the Center for Clean Air Policy is forming a new national US climate policy dialogue, the Climate Policy Initiative, which will provide an off-the-record forum for the necessary learning and stakeholder discussions that are needed to advance a comprehensive national climate policy solution. Goals of this Initiative are to: 1) educate key industry and government officials on the scope of the climate problem; and 2) develop a set of pragmatic near-term and longer-term mitigation and adaptation solutions for climate change in the United States.
- Urban Leaders Adaptation Initiative (ULAI)
In December 2006, the Center for Clean Air Policy launched the Urban Leaders Adaptation Initiative on Infrastructure, Land Use and Climate Change. In partnership with government leaders from six large U.S. counties and cities, this new program is aimed at ensuring the resilience of those communities to the impacts of inevitable climate change. Senior representatives from King County, Los Angeles, Miami-Dade County, Milwaukee, Nassau County and San Francisco attended a two-day kick-off meeting in Washington, DC.
- State Program (California)
CCAP will contribute to the design of California climate change solutions by using sound analysis and stakeholder outreach to advance climate policy. CCAP has identified several promising windows of opportunity to advance climate action in California. Work will include
assisting the California global warming environmental community in analysis of industry sectors to assist their response to AB32 (California's GHG legislation).
- The Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) applauds the California Market Advisory Committee (MAC) issuance of its final report outlining recommendations for the development of a greenhouse gas emissions cap and trade program for the state. CCAP, one of the organizations involved in developing of the report and its cap and trade program recommendations, released a statement. To read the statement, click here.
