About the Event

CCAP will be on the panel for  a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) COP27 event, titled "Carbon for People Reducing Knowledge Asymmetries for the Well-Being of Local Communities and Nature." CCAP Carbon Markets Program Manager Martin Perez will serve as a panelist.

The Amazon is one of the regions with the greatest potential to absorb carbon and other Greenhouse Gases (GHG) and thus combat climate change. However, the great potential of this region in terms of biodiversity has contributed to making it a territory exposed to multiple threats, impacting the well-being of its inhabitants. During this event, WWF will moderate a conversation amongst the panelists and also launch the guide, Fair Treatment in REDD+ Projects: More for People, which Martin has contributed to. This Guide seeks to support the understanding of local communities and Non-Governmental Organizations of carbon markets and become a tool that contributes to minimizing the risk of unfair treatment with the communities in the wake of these projects.
