About the Event

COP30 marks the 30th Conference of the Parties — the annual UN climate summit. For the first time, it will be hosted in Brazil, in Belém, Pará, at the heart of the Amazon. This year’s COP comes at a pivotal moment: global climate targets are under pressure, and the UN has stated that surpassing the 1.5°C warming threshold is now unavoidable.

Taking place a decade after the landmark Paris Agreement, COP30 also serves as the deadline for countries to submit their updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs 3.0). Yet, only about one-third of nations have done so to date.
