CCAP’s Transport program at SB46

CCAP participated in several transport/MRV-related events during the forty-sixth sessions of the UNFCCC subsidiary bodies (SB46) in Bonn, Germany.

  • Technical Expert Meeting on Urban Environment and Land Use (Tuesday, May 9, 2017): CCAP will make an invited presentation at the technical expert meeting on mitigation. A broad group of stakeholders (including Parties, technical experts and non-Party stakeholders) will focus on cross-cutting issues in urban environment and land use, and discuss how action related to the urban environment and land use contributes to raising mitigation ambition and facilitates sustainable development. This meeting will advance the goal set by COP 21 calling for technical examination of opportunities with high mitigation potential and associated adaptation, health and sustainable development co-benefits.

  • Webinar on Transport Volume of UNFCCC Compendium on GHG Baselines and Monitoring (Thursday, May 11, 2017): In collaboration with GIZ and SLoCaT, CCAP will host a webinar to introduce the newly-completed Transport Volume (Volume 6) of UNFCCC’s Compendium on GHG Baselines and Monitoring. With chapters addressing mitigation actions from mass transit to vehicle efficiency to fuel efficiency standards, the Transport Volume was written with the goal of building capacity for comprehensive transport emission inventories and mitigation scenario analysis to inform sound climate action planning

  • Urban Transport Roundtable (Friday, May 12, 2017): CCAP and GIZ will co-host an urban transport roundtable discussion with the working title “Accelerating action in urban transport: overcoming the challenge of data collection and MRV.” The roundtable will be an opportunity for practitioners to exchange insights on tools and methodologies available for estimating baselines and monitoring mitigation, and to reflect on how these tools can be improved. The discussion will take place from 13:00 to 15:00 on the GIZ campus, exact location TBD.
