On October 25, 2018, Laurence Blandford appeared on a panel before Canada’s House Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development, which is doing a study on Canada’s international leadership on climate change. His remarks focused on (i) the importance of supporting transformation with climate finance, taking more risk with private sector oriented finance and (ii) promoting ambition at home and abroad with ITMOs. He remarked on the need to keep climate finance and ITMO financing separate in reporting as the former was one commitment (finance provision) and ITMOs addressed another (domestic mitigation).
